The free map data from Ordnance Survey does not contain footpaths. Instead, we have superimposed paths using data from Open Street Map.
Open Street Map's categorisation of paths does not exactly match Ordnance Survey's paid maps, but we have tried to make them match as well as we can. While you can be fairly certain that the paths shown do exist on the ground, you should exercise caution about the details of the categorisation.
"Bridleways" are paths on which horses and bicycles are permitted as well as those on foot. "Permissive" paths are those on which the landowner chooses to permit access while there is no legal access right.
